'Pakeezah' took 14 years to complete
It may seem weird to learn that a film took 14 years to make. But, because Kamal Amrohi wanted to make a big deal out of her picture, there were so many twists and turns in the production that it took 14 years to complete. In 1958, Kamal began filming the cult classic film 'Pakija,' which became a landmark in Hindi cinema. Meena Kumari was Kamal's wife, and he adored her. He wanted to make a movie about Meena that would be remembered for years, and he was able to do so. In Amroha, Kamal created a magnificent set. Kamal was so dedicated to this project that he would call a halt to filming if even the tiniest flaw was discovered.
Kamal Amrohi's aim to create something spectacular
On the sets of the film, Kamal Amrohi had constructed the fountains in front of the Taj Mahal in the same fashion. Kamal wanted every scene to be beautiful and unforgettable. Kamal was unconcerned about the financial implications of his actions. Rose water is supposed to have been utilised in the fountains. The dance of Meena Kumari was filmed in front of these fountains. Despite the fact that the film was being made at a snail's pace, Kamal Amrohi was busy making it great. According to media accounts, Kamal and Meena Kumari's relationship began to deteriorate around this time. During this time, no work on Pakeezah was done for 3-4 years. In 1968, Kamal decided that the picture should be finished because a lot of money had been spent on it.
In spite of her illness, Meena Kumari gave an outstanding performance
Meena Kumari, on the other hand, had drowned in booze. She began to feel uncomfortable but made her way to the set in case she became ill, but as soon as the camera was turned on, Meena forgot about the agony and pain and became completely immersed in her character. Meena may have become eternal by performing 'Pakeezah' because the pain inside her manifested itself in such a miraculous way on the screen.
'Pakeezah,' Tawaif's heartbreaking story
'Pakeezah' was immortalised in Hindi film thanks to Meena Kumari, who presented the heartbreaking story of a tawaif with extreme sincerity. Meena Kumari is claimed to have charged merely Re 1 for this picture. Meena's liver has been affected by her heavy alcohol consumption. Meena suffered from cirrhosis of the liver. Only a few weeks after the film's premiere, Meena said her goodbyes to the world.
'Pakeezah' has several fantastic tracks

'Chalo Dildar Chalo Chand Ke Paar Ke Paar Chalo', 'Inhi Log Ne Lena Dupatta Mera', 'Thadhe Rahiyo O Banke Yaar Re', 'Chalte Chalte Yun Hi Koi Mil Gaya Tha', 'Aaj Hum Apni Will See the Effect of Prayers', and who doesn't enjoy hearing 'Mausam Hai Aashikana'?
